Hiking

Yesterday I went climbing a hill near Tuaran, about an hour from our place in KK. I've been wanting to hike ever since I moved here. We left a bit late and arrived there around 9, the sun was already hot, but as soon as you step under the foliage of the trees it's like a different world - all of a sudden the humidity feels cool against the skin. We saw butterflies, lizards and the world's largest leaves. Sadly there wasn't any real view from the top, as the trail suddenly became thick bush and we couldn't go further, but I still enjoyed the nature. I think there was a summit we could have reached, but the mosquitoes became a bit much so we turned back (note to self - bring bug repellant). The drive there was beautiful in itself, you could see Mount Kinabalu in all it's glory in the mid-morning light.

I really want to hike all of the hills around here, but my partner isn't the biggest fan. Maybe there's a club or something around here? Or maybe I just have to wait until I get my driver's license and can go on my own.
